All files are in mp3 format and in chronological orderwith the newest at the top

I laid down the basic midi tracks for this a year ago during a March snowstorm. Didn't do much more with it until a few months ago when I added several guitar tracks, some additional percussion and a brief mid section with a key change and guitar solo. Now it's March and snowing again. The whole piece runs only 2 minutes but it's all I had to say. Best listened to with headphones - 03/11
    March Snow

This is an original all MIDI composition
    Ditndot

This is not an origial composition. It's my take on a piece that's been floating around in my head since I first heard it as a child. A simple but beautiful piece from the album "Stan Kenton conducts the jazz compositions of Dee Barton".
    Lonely Boy

We had a March snowstorm so I recorded this 60 second, MIDI original.
    Am 2

An original composition of loops, midi and several guitar tracks. It ends with a brief tip of the hat to Jimi Hendrix. Can you tell what Hendrix song I reference? My song title offers a hint.
    Afrikan Sun

This is a variation on a folktune from my childhood. It's also the first piece where I play all the parts on a midi keyboard.
    Kahbeyd

Here's the first original piece that I play all instruments on (except percussion). Though short, there are about 8 guitar tracks on it. It's titled after the time signature which is 4/4, then 3/4 and 2/4.
    432x

I'm playing 3 guitar tracks on this. It's a little rough but it was a fun experiment & my first recording via computer interface. A cover of Rikki don't lose that number with MIDI backing tracks
    Rikki

This is an old Hollies song, later covered by Dan Folgelberg & Tim Weisman.
Here's my take. Five guitar tracks.

    Tell me to my face

One of the first MIDI and guitar pieces I recorded. An original piece.
     Variations on 12 in A

This is my first loop based piece. Loops certainly lend themselves to things like this
    ode2glass
It's my homage to Phillip Glass.

another loop based piece
    clouds

I'm just floating by.

    Inja
loops, loops & more loops

Video

This is my second version of Tell Me To My Face. This time with vocals. I had to digitally change the key of my original recording so I could sing it. Love dem 'puters! Here's the YouTube version.
    Tell Me To My Face

My first youtube video. It's a bit rough but it was fun.

My Equipment

Here are some pictures of the equipment I'm using to record the mp3's on this page. I'm still learning operation and capabilities of the equipment, as well as the recording process - which I'm sure will be a life long process. Each piece I record seems to be improving in quality and as with most technology, the more you learn, the more you realize what you don't know.

Guitars Digital
This is my Schecter S1 Elite. I'd never heard of them until I got this one. These are awesome guitars.
This is the Roland GR-33 midi guitar unit which allows a guitar with a midi pickup, to sound like almost anything.
This is a Fender Telecaster with the addition of a Roland Midi pickup

m audioThis M-Audio firewire computer interface is one of many products that pretty much let you plug in and play.

An Ovation acoustic/electric guitar - no customization other then staining the sound hole inlays black. (I couldn't resist)

g5Then everything gets plugged into one of these.

Bruce Siegel - My Musical History

I've been surrounded by music most of my life. My father was a 3rd generation Cantor. (If you're not sure what a Cantor is rent the first "talkie" The Jazz Singer).I've been singing in choirs since the age of 7, playing in bands since 13 and even had a very brief job as a Cantor - but that's another story. My musical influences are "all over the map" and there's almost no type of music that I don't like or listen to... ok, so I'm not crazy about polkas.

Playing and writing music since I was a teen, one of my long time dreams has been to record music. While multi-track recording devices have been around for a long time, it's only recently that quality, relatively inexpensive personal recording equipment has become a reality. Better late then never.

Feel free to send me any comments or just say hi.
