Wingspread

Wingspread was built in 1938 by Frank Lloyd Wright as the private residence for Herbert Johnson of Johnson Wax located in Racine, WI. It is presently designated as an educational conference facility for the Johnson Foundation.

In the 1980's, when I was designing and building custom lighting & furniture, I was commissioned to create 12 lamps for Wingspread, incorporating design elements of the building.

The lamps are still installed in Wingspread and the conference center is open for public tours.

Over 20 years later in 2004, I was asked to repair and refurbish the lamps which allowed me to take the multi-image panoramic photos below - (love those digital cameras).
